Achabal in Anantnag

Achabal is one of the renowned places in the map of tourism in Anantnag. Achabal presents the intrinsic beauty of Kashmir and it is the prominent natural location for visitors. It is placed only 7 kilometers from main city of Anantnag, considered as popular tourist spots among locals as well as foreign travelers. Located at an elevation of 1936 meters, it is a serene town in the vicinity of Anantnag city. It is believed that in ancient times, this place was also called Akkshavala and it was a sacred destination for the Hindus.  The town was said to be developed in 15th century AD as a part of mighty Kashmir Kingdom.

Achabal also has a natural cascading spring, probably the most beautiful one, which come out from Sosanwar hill. This gorgeous water body is surrounded by wood covered mountain ranges and occasional snowfall enhances the mesmerizing view of this place. This is the main feature of Achabal as its anonymous source of water is still under mystifying presumptions. No one knows the exact source of water of this Achabal, but strongly it is believed that the River Bringhi which got vanished in the trenches of hills has been reappeared in form of waterfall.

Achabal Gardens also known as Mughal Gardens offer splendid view against the back drop of hilly ranges. People coming for tourism gets mesmerize by looking at this awesome natural creation. It is comprised in a large landscape to cover immaculate scenery of this place. The garden was constructed around 1620 AD under the reign of Mughal ruler, Jehangir. It was the summer retreat for his queen, Nur Jahan. The biggest highlight of this garden is the waterfall located inside it. This small waterfall cascades into a pond that is surrounded with beautiful pavement and garden.

Mughla Gardens Achabal

This magnificent garden was developed by Mughal emperors to increase the beauty of this place. It is said that Mughals were very fond of gardening; therefore Malika Noor Jehan Begum constructed upper portion of this wonderful structure. It got incepted during the regime of Mughals during 1620 AD and called as Bag- e- Begam Abad. This place was popularly known as Sahib Abad due to the presence of Hamam which get heated from a logical lamp.

Reach Achabal in Anantnag

Achabal is located on the south east direction from Anantnag. It is situated on the National highway 1B which is headed towards the Kishtwar. If measured from the core of city, it is exactly 9 km away from Anantnag and people can simply reach there with any means of transport available. People visiting with own vehicle can simply take highway and reach Achabal. Buses and taxis are also available between Anantnag and Achabal.
